The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Immigration, Hon. Rimbink Pato, announced a recent decision by Cabinet for the creation of a new Visa Class entitled "Designated Event Visa".
"This visa class applies to foreigners intending to enter Papua New Guinea to attend or participate in national, regional or international events hosted in the country" the minister said.
He further elaborated that such events would have to be approved by the National Executive Council (NEC).
Minister Pato also announced Cabinet's decision on the new and revised Migration Service Fees (MSF).
"The new Fees include penalties against airlines for disregarding obligations imposed under the Migration Act (1978), increase in the cost of PNG Passport renewals, and levying of Administrative Fees by PNG Overseas Missions/Posts, amongst others", the Minister said.
Minister Pato also added that the Decisions by Cabinet have now been approved by the Governor General, and subsequently gazetted for implementation with immediate effect.
