Business Visa

About This Visa

Individuals are required to apply for this visa if they intend to visit Papua New Guinea for short-term business activities.

Description of visa

Business activities which may be permitted (non-exhaustive list) include:

  • to carry out an official trade mission recognised by the Papua New Guinea government;
  • to sell goods and services in Papua New Guinea;
  • to buy Papua New Guinea goods and services;
  • to support a major infrastructure development project as approved by the government of Papua New Guinea;
  • to negotiate or discuss the set-up, expansion or wind-up of a business in Papua New Guinea; or
  • to carry out any business with the authorised representatives of an overseas company, body or person; or
  • in accordance with the parameters of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Travel Card Scheme.

Criteria that must be met

To be eligible for a business or a short-term employment visa, you must show that you are a genuine business person or are engaging in approved employment, with the intention of leaving Papua New Guinea at the end of your stay.

Depending on your circumstances, you may be asked to provide ICA with evidence to support your application.

 

Validity Of Visa

Visas are issued subject to the individual circumstances of the traveller.

In most circumstances, you can expect to be issued a Business visa, which is valid for a single entry stay of thirty (30) days from the date of arrival.

How to apply

Travellers who hold a passport from a country which is eligible for the issuance of a visa on arrival, may lodge an application via the electronic visa portal.

Travellers who are not eligible for a Papua New Guinea visa on arrival or do not wish to apply using the electronic visa portal, should submit their application using the paper form available for download at the bottom of this page.

Extension of stay

Depending on the type of visa you have been issued, you may be eligible to extend your stay in Papua New Guinea without leaving the country.

The eligibility requirements for a visa extension will vary depending on your personal circumstances, which include the purpose and the period of time you have already spent in Papua New Guinea, and length of the extension sought.

Change of circumstances

If your circumstances change at any time during the visa application process or after your visa is issued, you must inform ICA. A change in circumstances may affect your ongoing eligibility for the visa issued.

If your circumstances have changed, please notify ICA immediately.
